DP50

Hi, My DP has become increasingly grumpy when feeding disks through. The black feeder mechanism at the back just seems unable to feed disks through. First of all it did it occasionally but it seems to be getting worse today. It just makes grinding noises. Sometimes it feeds the disk on a second attempt. I need this unit working urgently! I can't sit here manually feeding it discs one by one!!!!!!!!!!! My number is [edited]. Thanks.

As requested here are the details:

Invoice MD97PH-6000-3945
Purchase Date - 15th Oct 2007

I took the back cover off and noted that the motor cog was not in contact with another cog I could see. Pressing down on cog that wasn't on the motor resulted in the machine working again.

Release the pressure and the machine stops working again.

I'll also put in a sample of the Prodisc CD's for you. As I do the duplication prior to printing the CD's or DVD's are always seperated prior to printing so that probably eliminates the "sticking" idea.

Hi. Any news on the repair of the printer? You received it on Friday but I spoke to David who said it had got lost in your warehouse there and you only found it on Tuesday.

Things are starting to get urgent at this end with a backlog of work building up and customers calling me asking for their discs. So any news and a quick return would be appreciated. If it's not back by Monday afternoon things are going to start to get difficult here.

Presumably the unit is due back today as mentioned in your email on Thursday.

Is there any news on what caused the problem? Was it caused by the media or was it just a fault?

Hi Marcus,
Unfortunately the unit will only be back with you tomorrow. As for what caused the problem, it does not seem related to your media. One of the supports holding the motor/cogs in place was slightly loose, causing the gears to move out of alignment. This has now been replaced and the printer is working fine. Kind Regards, [edited]
