Hi Ben, I have put your DP-50 on the testing bench today, and it seems to be working perfectly. I recieved your sample disc you sent with your product. It seems as though the disc you were using was rather thin. What discs are/were you using? If you like we could send you some sample media for free for you to try out for yourself.
I hope this helps.
If you have any questions then feel free to ask
Regards

Hi [edited],
Obviously this suprises me as I tested with ten discs and each one had the same identical scratching. The discs were Verbatim, which as you know are good quality. I'd be very reluctant to take the machine back unaltered. What do you suggest?
Regards

Hi Ben, we have performed further tests on the machine, and there is still no sign of any problems. At this point I am positive that there is no fault, and all I can suggest is to change the discs you are using, I'd reccommend Tayio Yuden printable media as being the most reliable. |

Hi Ben,
We managed to get hold of the discs you are using and did find the mechanism produced a small scratch on the underside of the Verbatim DVDs.
I have now replaced the singlulator mechanism on the DP50 and the scratch no longer appears. It does seem though that the plastic used in these Verbatim discs is particularily soft, and even with the new mechanism there are very very faint marks in some places around the disc.
These are only visable under very close scrutiny, but I'd still suggest (if possible) you try a different brand of media. As my colleage said, Taiyo Yuden discs are of a particularily high quality and when we tested with those discs in the same machine we found no problem.
I am just putting a final run of discs through you machine to ensure the scratch no longer appears. I aim to get you unit ready to leave by this evening.
Kind Regards,
