Printer Problems

The printer has problems disk loading can only load one disk at a time and that only sporadically, changing the drying time within the printer settings also has no effect on the time between disk ejections so the printer is anything but automatic you have to manually insert each disk and then remove each disk one at a time to stop them smudging...... The serial number is 006467

We do not have the original packaging but will securely package the printer for transite, it will be ready for collection by 12.00pm tomorrow 19/11/09 however on the phone i thought you said that the shipping costs would not be incurred by us and in one of your emails it states: Any shipping costs incurred in returning product to StorDigital Systems is the customer's responsibility. I don't think it would be fair for us to pay to ship it as the product is still under warranty... Please let me know your response,

As the unit developed a fault for the second time within warranty we are will organise collection from you without any charges. Please note that we will not be able to hold responsibility for any damage caused in transit as the unit is packaged in non-original packaging. Collection details will follow shortly.

Just confirming we have booked Interlink Express couriers to collect the printer from you between 1pm-5pm today. Please ensure it is packed very well for transit and is ready by 12pm.
If there are any previous Interlink courier labels on the box, please cross out the barcode on them, thanks.

I have replaced the faulty loader and I am testing your unit now. I have also new drivers for this printer so I just need to make sure that I can align the printer, etc. I believe it should be ready at the beginning of next week.

Hi Sam,
I am pleased to inform you that you printer has been repaired and fully tested. I have successfully printer aprox. 500 discs so the loader works fine. In the terms o the drying time - as I mentioned I have new driver for the printer (I put CD in the accessory box for you) new driver seems to work fine - no wet ink on the disc after printing image heavy on black and red and no smudging. I have repacked the unit (I added some extra filling to secure the unit inside box) and it is ready for the delivery to Icon Films, 1-2 Fitzroy Terrace, Bristol, BS6 6TF. Please also note that as the unit has been returned in non original packaging we will not be able to hold any responsibility for damages in transit. Please confirm the address and that you accept delivery conditions ad we will dispatch the unit asap.

We have set up the returned printer and the alignment is completely shot. We have tried unsuccessfully to align the artwork so it prints correctly to the DVD but with no luck. Please suggest solution urgently! Regards

I am sorry for the delays with getting back to you. Which drivers are your using (the new or the old ones)? Please note you need to click on "offset" button before you click OK and "apply" in order to save new alignment values.

I have followed your insructions and the problem still seems to be occuring. We have installed the new software that was sent with the printer. There does not seem to be an OK and "apply" button. Are you referring to the allignment option in printing preferences? Please could you advise on the next step to take.

Hi Sam and Lorne,
Sorry for the confusion - I was referring to "old" drivers. In order to access alignment setting you need to go to printing preferences, select "color" tab and click on "printer services" button. This will bring new window where you need to click on the "cd/dvd printer alignment service" icon. There are no OK an "apply" buttons so the only way to save new values is to click on the "offset alignment" once you typed new values. I hope this makes more sense now.

Sorry to jump in - we've tried this advice and no luck I'm afraid. The Dvd printer being out of action is a real problem for us - is there anyway we can have a contact number so we can talk through the issue to resolve it as quickly as possible? Best wishes Tam. [edited]

Hi Sam/Tam

Tom has advised me that there is a small amount of bleed from on the disc when it is being printed. To be honest this kind of over printing is quite typical of inkjet printing on discs, since the printbale surface area tend to vary in size. We have been using inkjet printers here for 8 years to produce discs and this is just a normal part of the process, on al the untis we sell at all price points. The DP100 is at the lower end of the price sepctrum, but has proven to be a very popular unit for customer wishing to produce several hundred discs per week. Inkjet disc printing is entry level disc printing and a DP100 is quite close to an entry level disc printer. I will speak to Tom further and yoruselves to get a fuller picture to discover if your device is operating outside of the normal spectrum and then we can consider the options. Maybe you can send a picture to [edited] of a disc that has been printed incorrectly. Thanks for your patience. Kind regards, [edited]
