Product Breakdown
Hi I purchased a StoreDigital CopyTower 5 from CD-Writer.com (their invoice number N14370) 16th June 2009. The product is proving to be very unreliable. When typically writing 6 CDs from hard drive or 5 from master cd we get 2 or more copy failures. We are using good quality blank cds and if I use the same cds on a single drive pc there are no failures. Please advise - CD-Writer.com have referred me to you.

No it's not always the same drive - I tried one today copying writing 5 cds from a master cd and received 3 errors - then put 2 more cds in the drives which worked and they both failed. same thing happens copying from hard drive. |

Hi Dave,
Most likely we have problem with the firmware. Please let me know serial number of your machine (white sticker with the serial number [which will look like 001234] can be found on the back of the unit) and the firmware version (firmware version will be displayed on the top right hand corner of the display in the following format: 1.23). I will send you an update and instructions.

I've installed firmware and tested copying with 2 x 6 cds.
First set - 1 fail cd drive 4 (a fail was reported).
2nd Set no failures reported BUT cd in Drive 6 couldnt then be read in PC CD drive.
The CDs are absolutely pristine.
Therefore problem not solved.
Basically we have a 16% failure rate (i.e. 1 in 6 if lucky) and the only way to tell is by inserting copied sinto pc drive.
Not what we bought the copier for!
What do you suggest now please?

Hi Dave, Your duplicator is ready for return. I have changed the reader to a DVD-ROM, as a precaution. I have tested the copier extensively with the 'mechanisms' master located on the HDD and I can report no failures and all discs have been checked on a PC. Kind regards, [edited] |
