Duplicator failing to write CDs when full

We have a 10 drive premium DVD duplicator but it fails to copy CDs when they contain a lot of data (nearly full). We do a copy and compare but the compare fails. It's fine with smaller amounts of data (60Mb). Copying the same disc using the same media on a PC works fine. Any ideas?

Hi Nick, Sorry, I'll need a bit more info from you before I can see what is wrong. Does the duplicator fail DVDs as well as CDs? When/how did this behaviour start...gradually? Does it fail ALL the CDs or only some? Please let me have the Stordigital serial number (00****). Knid regards, [edited]

It's not failed a DVD yet. This is the first time we have tried to copy a CD that's pretty much full so it's hard to say whether it's always done it or not. We've tried it in different drives and it fails no matter which one we try it in. The serial no. is 004565.

Hi Nick,
I am sending a firmware revision for your duplicator's controller to your email address. Please burn the file to a blank CD and place it in the top tray; go to the UTILITIES menu item and press ENT, then select the UPDATE FIRMWARE option and again, press ENT. Please let me know if this resolves the problem, or not. Regards, [edited]

Have applied the firmware update, now 8.65. This unfortunatly made no difference. It still fails the compare. Source disc contains 699Mb. It's the writing that's going wrong as if I check the disc in a PC one of the files at the end is corrupt.

Ok, Nick, thanks. Sorry the f/w file has not improved things. I am prepared to issue a RMA so we can check the duplicator in our workshop - First though, please try the same test with a couple of different master discs and/or, a new version of the same master - that is, definitely, finalised and preferably, has passed the duplicator's PRESCAN facility (12/13. UTILITIES - Prescan). Kind regards, [edited]

Have tried other masters copied from the original on a PC and tested with the pre-scan facility. All result in the same problem. It's very rare for us to burn full CDs so if there's no easy solution we will live with it for now as we can't afford to be without it.
