What is the problem you're experiencing with the top drive? It is not recognising discs?

We seem to be confused, I have a 1-3 copier serial number 05051SS000951 which
is one of several I puchased in 2003, they all have a problem in so much that they will not play all DVD`s. I have changd some of the drives but it has only partally sorted the problem. The clients I have sold then to all say whenI offer them a new Storedigital, we dont want those they dont copy our discs.
Any suggestions

My second problem is with a machine I purchased in 2007 serial number F07010930075A. This was returned to me with the fault, `the top drawer is stuck out` on arrival the drawer was in but appears broken, the outer cover of the drawer is broken and it sticks when ejecting.
Any suggestions, this one is under warranty

As StorDigital duplicaotr purchased in 2007 will record all CD and DVD formats except CD+G, Karaoke and DVD-RAM. Units bought in 2003 will feature very different drives and controllers and are likely to work with fewer of todays disc formats and speeds. In regard to the in warranty unit, I suggest you remove the drive and return it for replacement. I will arrange and returns request form for you. kind regards.

Hi Peter - when you say will not "play" all DVD's? What do you mean exactly? Do you mean it will not read your master DVD, or it will read the master but not burn onto the blank media? What I would suggest, is that you re-author your master DVD, and burn the disc at 1x or 2x speed. Due to the age of the machine/drives, they may well have trouble reading discs burnt at 16x or 18x. kind Regards, [edited]

They seem to read ok but will not write to the copies. This only applies to about a third of the masters copied. The problem is that the different masters copied varies enormously and yes you are probably right it is the lates speeds that are causing trouble. How do I re-author the existing machines

The best way would be to use a PC with a DVD-RW drive. Using some burning software (like Nero Burning Rom) you can select "copy disc". Set the burn speed to 2x or 4x and then try this in your duplicator. Hopefully that will help. Kind Regards,[edited]

What am I copying and have you any instructions to download to the copier, I have no instructions for your copiers

Hi Pete - What do you mean by 'what am I copying'? I thought you were saying that some master discs do not work. It is these master discs that you need to re-burn at a slower speed, and see if you have any success. It the unit is reading ALL the masters ok, but failing during the burn process, then it usually indicates a problem with the machine.
