StorDigital Burner Problem

Need RMA number to send duplicatior back as instructed by [edited].

Dear Laura - you need to detail in this ticket what is happening with the unit so I can escalate it to other engineer prior to retunrn. Please confirm the exactly what has happened and what media you are using. Are you using the hard disc, is it behaving erratically all the time? When did you last do successfull job? Please offer as much info as possible. Kind regards.

The drawers arent returning in so the jobs are failing. Can only burn betwen 20 - 30 discs before job fails, so having to constantly restart it.

Using Masters not HDD. Every burn for the last week and a half has failed. No succesful runs. Last time we had a sucessful burn was last Tuesday(5th). Mainly drawers 2 and 7 that fail, but all have failed at some point. Nobody else has been using the machine so I know it has always been shut down properly everytime as i have been the one doing this.

Laura - OK we are going to try a couple of things today - It seems there might be slight software glitch on the unit that results form the device being set in alignment protection mode. First we will try and turn alignment protection off and see if it remedies the problem. To do this follow these instructions:

01 Go to menu Item 13 loader utilities. Press Enter.

02 Scroll to option 5 (alignment protect). Press enter

03 You are now in alignment protect. Press up or down to select OFF. Press Enter.

04 Press Esc and scroll to Copy.

Please try to burn some discs.


If turning off this feature does not work I would like to ask you to power down the duper, remove the case from the drive housing and then remove the IDE cables (the wide cable) from the rear of the offending drives. Once removed please power up the machine again and see if it behaves normally. Let us know how you get on.

[edited]-Thankyou for the information above but unfortunatly we do not have the time and technical capability to sort out this problem ourselves due to time and production constraints. These need to be maintained constantly and with the loss of this machine we will encounter production loss. My college Neil Bangs will hopefully be visiting you sometime on Friday or the latest Monday to discuss alternatives to resolving the problems. Thanks Laura

Dear Laura - the proceedure indicated should take 30 seconds to do, its via the LCD interface. If Neil wishes to visit us in greenwich he will first need to make an appointment. Can I suggest that if he comes, monday would be the best day and that he brings with him the duplicator so it can be checked out whilst he waits. Kind regards.
